Historic Places
Wyoming has a wide range of interesting and significant historic
sites -- from battlefields, to forts, to Pony Express stations, to a
World War II Japanese-American internment site to historic ranches and
historic schools. These issues can be complicated because of difficult
ownership issues. Luckily, local groups often exist to advocate for a
well-known local resource. The All
iance for Historic Wyoming works with
these groups to amplify their voice, helping to spread the issue beyond
the immediate communities.
Some of the sites we have worked on include:
- Wyoming's historic schools
- Inyan Kara withdrawal
- The Red Buttes Battlefield site
- The Heart Mountain Internment Camp
- Whitegrass Ranch and the Hunter Hereford Barn in Grand Teton National Park
- Fort Phil Kearny & Fetterman Battlefield
