Edre Maier Lifetime Achievement Award |
The Alliance for Historic Wyoming is proud to announce Edre Maier as the recipient of the Mary Humstone Excellence in Historic Preservation Lifetime Achievement Award. Edre’s unwavering commitment to preserving Wyoming’s historic places has made a lasting impact, especially through her leadership in the revitalization of the Historic Sheridan Inn. Her dedication to maintaining the Inn’s architectural integrity and her vision for the surrounding Railroad Historic District have enriched the community and preserved a vital piece of Sheridan’s cultural heritage. With a background in housing and interior design, Edre became a passionate advocate for historic preservation when she moved to Sheridan in the late 1980s. Her work with the Sheridan Heritage Center, the Sagebrush Community Arts Center, and the revitalization of downtown Sheridan highlights her dedication to preserving the community’s architectural and cultural legacy. The Alliance for Historic Wyoming celebrates Edre’s legacy and thanks her for her invaluable contributions to the preservation of Wyoming’s history. |
An award ceremony and celebration will held at 4:30 p.m. on May 30th at the Historic Sheridan Inn in Sheridan, WY. |
John & Catherine MacPherson Excellence in Historic Preservation |
The Alliance for Historic Wyoming is proud to announce that John and Catherine (Cathy) MacPherson have been selected as the recipients of this year’s Mary Humstone Excellence in Historic Preservation Award. Lifelong advocates for Wyoming’s cultural heritage, the MacPhersons are being honored for their extraordinary efforts to preserve and celebrate the legacy of the state’s historic sheep industry. Their donation of five restored sheepwagons—each tied to Carbon County’s rich ranching past—along with the funds to build a dedicated structure at the Little Snake River Museum in Savery, has resulted in the creation of the MacPherson Sheep Center. This permanent exhibit not only safeguards a crucial piece of Wyoming’s agricultural story but does so in a way that invites the public to experience it firsthand. More than just a preservation effort, the MacPhersons’ contribution has had a lasting and unexpected impact on their community. The MacPherson Sheep Center has become a vibrant gathering place for local events, from concerts to weddings, adding new life to Savery while deepening its ties to history. What began as a personal passion—rooted in John’s family history and Cathy’s love of antiques—has become a cornerstone for community memory and engagement. Their generosity, vision, and deep respect for Wyoming’s heritage exemplify the spirit of the Humstone Award, and we are honored to recognize their legacy. |
An award ceremony and celebration will be held on Saturday, June 7th, at 2:00 p.m., at the Little Snake River Museum in Savery, Wyoming. |
