“Preservation is Persistence”
Every May, the Alliance for Historic Wyoming celebrates Historic Preservation Month and those who persist in pursuing preservation in their community and across the state of Wyoming. Join us in highlighting important efforts to preserve historic places and spaces, our calendar of events for the month of May, and learn more about how history is preserved through iconic locations statewide.
Check out our calendar of events for the month of May and the fantastic programs and events happening all over the state to celebrate Historic Preservation Month!
After receiving many fantastic nominations, we have chosen a recipient. Congratulations to our inaugural winner of the Mary Humstone Excellence in Historic Preservation Award:
Jackie Dorothy of Thermopolis, Wyoming!
Dorothy was nominated for her creation of the 1920’s Middleton School Immersion program for the Hot Springs County Museum. After the Middleton School was restored to its appearance from the 1920s, 3rd and 4th graders are able to experience an authentic 1920s one-room school house’s daily curriculum.
The award presentation will be held at 5:30 pm on Friday, May 24th at the Hot Springs County Museum in Thermopolis, in conjunction with the Museum’s annual award ceremony for the J.C. History Competition.
